Our weekly modern dance classes follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), a syllabus that is recognised around the world for offering high quality, structured dance grades that develop and build technique in dancers of all ages.

Modern dance is a dynamic dance style that requires a good balance of strength, flexibility, style and artistry. At TheatreWorks our modern dance classes focus on developing and improving our students strength and flexibility through exercises designed to improve these skills safely with age appropriate content. We continually encourage our students to explore style, giving them a safe space and the confidence to push themselves to try new things and develop their style and artistry.

At TheatreWorks we offer examinations from primary through to vocational level with examinations taking place yearly. The ISTD is an accredited dance board in the UK with some higher grades offering UCAS points that can be used for university applications.

Students progress through the modern grades as their skills, strength and technique improve. Modern dance classes at TheatreWorks are delivered by our highly experienced and qualified teachers from our fully equip studios in central Leicester.

These classes ensure our students develop strong foundations and technical skills and a deeper knowledge of the modern dance style but also improve strength, flexibility, artistry and dance vocabulary.
